My goofy one.
Lover of bees, dirt, babies, candy, and dolls.
Named after the princess in _The Princess and the Goblin_, and my grandmother.
Born the same night Princess Diana died. (I watched the footage all night long because there was nothing but footage on. And I don't sleep in
hospitals.)
10 years old now.
Happy birthday!!

OK, the party must be over - where have you been??

I need some book recommendations for my 8 year old reading machine. What did/do your girls like? She has been going through the Beverley Cleary books and says she wants something a little harder. Is _The Princess and the Goblin_ something for her, or a read-aloud? She did love _The Light Princess_ and _The Golden Key_. I read the former and then she read it on her own months later. The latter, I started reading and hated; she picked it up on her own later. Any ideas?

She could probably tackle _The Princess and the Goblin_ if she can read _The Light Princess_. But then you wouldn't get to enjoy it! :) Mrs Darling didn't like it much, but I really do. (I haven't read _The Golden Key_. Is that George MacDonald as well?) I think _The Princess and the Goblin_ is less abstract than most of MacDonald's fairy tales.

You are the 2nd person to ask me about this in a week so I'm thinking I'll try to get a list up and do a post.
