And speaking of being glad that your daughter is a freak...(and I did ask her permission to share this. I think she's expecting royalties.)

Tonight we were all working in the kitchen (tons of blueberries to freeze. I have to make this quick.) and the country station was on the radio. There is a new song out about a guy who is rather mediocre in real life but takes on a different persona when he goes on line. So in describing himself in real life he says he is a bit overweight and mildly asthmatic and also says he's never been to 2nd base.

So S. (15yrs.) says "Well, that is pretty bad. Even I've been to 2nd base."

She thought he meant softball.

She couldn't understand why R. and I were laughing.

That's pretty good, aye?

What I want to know is if you explained why you were laughing. Occasionally, figures of speech have come up that I've needed to explain to my daughters just so they don't innocently repeat them and embarrass themselves as well as those around them. :-P

Too funny! Tell S I am grateful she shared that story. Freakdom is easier to take when one is not alone.

Marbel, I did have to coax it out of her. I promised her that nobody who reads my blog would think the less of her for it.

Susan-yes, I did explain it. She'll be careful to qualify her 2nd base achievements in the future. :)

Bless her heart!

Oh dear, that is funny! To be honest, I only have a vague idea of what that means, but enough to recognize the double meaning. Homeschooling is a great thing - a good education and laughter the rest of your life when you realize how much you DIDN'T have to learn!

2nd base (at least when I was in school.) is kissing. He's just saying he's never kissed a girl.

But S. has never kissed anyone.
