Does anyone read this blog from Texas? Just curious...

I have been doing a lot of sewing lately. I wanted to take pictures but the camera is broken. :( And I just bought it batteries too. Isn't that ingratitude for ya?

I made E. a really sweet dress out of a daisy fabric. She is 12 now and at that twixt and tween age for buying clothes. Nothing in the children sections fits because they are all to short, but she isn't big enough to fit in the women's' petites yet. So that leaves the *gag* juniors' section. Which is about the same thing as saying there are simply no clothes being offered in her size. So I'm sewing.

I really try to keep my girls looking feminine and sweet. All too often it seems that the discussion of girls clothes falls directly to what is modest and what isn't and a groping for rules about hemlines, dresses or not, etc. But I think if we leave it at that, then we are missing something. I really try to achieve a sweet, girly look in my girls. When people look at them, I want them to be reminded of wholesomeness, sweetness, femininity.. I want my girls to look like they are happy to be girls! Have you ever noticed that even when the clothes at the department stores are decent as far as modesty goes, the look of the clothes can be anything but simply pretty or sweet? One day S. and I wear walking around a store and I commented how the clothes are all so clunky and thrashed looking, they make you look like you just crawled out from under a car. S. said "Yeah, it's like they are trying to tell the world that they are tough and nothing can hurt them."

Isn't that the truth? What is it about ruffles and pretty floral prints that make girls feel vulnerable? How many times have you heard a girl (or woman) talk about she just isn't a girly girl, she doesn't go for frilly things, etc. Why do you think that is?

I know I was like that as a girl. I wore sweats or jeans everyday. I never wore anything that was remotely feminine. It's something I have to work on myself with because it doesn't come naturally. But I am trying to teach my girls better.

It was beautiful weather for a few days, but today we are back to the rain. Well, at least the little boys have had a few days outside!

We like to look feminine here too. Well, I am not so good at it. I like my sweats. But my girly is very girly. Have you seen the Tutti-frutti fabric line at Joann's? (I assume you go there for fabric but maybe you have a better place). It is so cute and feminine, and the prints can be mix-and-matched... Now I'm in a sewing mood.

No comments on today's primary?

Hi, Kerri,

I love your new sunflower header; nice and warm looking. :)

I think your goal is good, for your girls to be feminine and sweet. Each one of us needs to be content with the calling in life the Lord has given us, including that basic calling of being male or female. :)

I can tell by what you say that you care, too, about a sweet, feminine spirit within, as well as an outward appearance of femininity.

Oh my so you went back to the original pci for your header. I love it.

Hey what happened to the baby announcment that showed up in my google reader? I dont see it here on the blog? All those cute baby shoes gone in a poof!

And yeah, Tink has been using that phrase "girly girl" lately. She thinks its cool to say shes not a girly girl. Well I informed her the other day that God made all girls girly girls and to never let me hear her say that again! Thats right! Thats right that's what I done told her!

Marbel-I've been fasting off of talk radio and listening to a tape series on Romans by James Jordan instead. Very clearing to the mind. :) Anyway, OBama has it..

I did get some of that fabric and made a dress for F. out of it. It is really cute. I love those playful sorts of colors :)

Mrs. D This computer doesn't have a photo editor on it and everything I try to resize at photo bucket still comes out on blogger too little. ARGH!! So I'm stuck with what I already had sized. But I thought the clouds were too cold now that it's spring..

Nobody reads this blog from Texas. Nobody. There is nothing in Texas. Nothing. Remember that.

My 2nd daughter won't wear pants for the life of her, but she insists on cammo bandanas, pocket knives, and big ol' boots. I want to see her act and look feminine and lovely, but she insists on these things. But she's gone through other "phases", so I'll just have to hold out that this too shall pass!

I'm with Mrs. Darling. TX is hot and empty. Except for the bugs. Really really big bugs.

I am seriously confused...must be out of the loop on an inside joke. :S

Oh Roberta, crack me up. I'm sorry. I didn't mean there was a blog IN Texas. I meant does anyone FROM Texas read my blog. We've been thinking about moving there and Mrs. D doesn't quite sit well with the idea...

Gotcha! I read the emPHAsis on THIS...not on BLOG. lol thanks for clarifying. Need to study up on my puctuation. ;)
Oh, if you're looking to move I know someone who reads your blog from Idaho!! just a thought. And it's cheaper (than OR anyway)...closer to Oregon...friendly people! :) Finding a church has been tough, but I think we Western Christians maybe spend too much time looking for the "right fit" when sometimes the challenge to our comfort zones builds character...or so I am discovering.
Why does Texas call to you?
